This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years,” represents the final year of our three-year effort to educate the public about basic but essential elements of smoke alarm safety.
Portable generators
Portable generators are useful during power outages. However, many homeowners are unaware that the improper use of portable generators can be risky. The most common dangers associated with portable generators are carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, electrical shock or electrocution, and fire hazards.
The Auburn Fire Department is excited to offer their first annual Citizens Fire Academy (CFA) in the spring of 2013. This program is designed for persons living or working within the City of Auburn who want to know more about the Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services. This is scheduled to run for 10 weeks on Wednesday evenings with two Saturday classes.
Maine’s Bravest Brings Home the “Cup”
The Auburn Fire Department’s IAFF Local 797 is excited to announce the success of the 2013 stair climbing team (Maine’s Bravest). They out-stepped 2nd place Portland Fire Department by a mere four seconds to bring home the race’s victory cup.
