Local 797 Joins the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce

The Auburn Local 797 has recently formed a public relations committee to extend our services to not only the residents of Auburn, but businesses as well. We felt it was necessary to join the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce in order to reach out to the business portion of our community. The Chamber will allow us to build relations and friendships with the existing 1400 plus strong members of the Chamber. This creates a great platform for our Local to connect and network with surround businesses. Our Union thought that the Chamber would serve both us and the community better. We felt that being members of the Chamber would allow us to demonstrate our giving nature, caring personality, helpfulness towards others, and our continual volunteering of hours to provide the best service to the community for which we protect and serve.

With that said, we felt the businesses of our community needed to see the other side of the fire fighters and the Local Union. As a Union, we strive to give back to our community in many ways. Our Local is constantly performing fundraising events for our “Children’s Fund” that has helped assist with thousands of children in the greater Auburn/Lewiston area. Our Union is very active in local and national charities including the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), which we are one of the largest donators in Maine.  As Chamber members we are prepared to make the business community aware of our mission of giving back to our community.

The Chamber members have accomplished many great things in the past, and as we continue to push forward, and we would like to be part of that positive momentum. Therefore, we are proud to say that Auburn Fire Fighters Local 797 is an official member of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce. Please stay tuned and follow our involvement with the Chamber.
